Languages of Eldahar

Language Description
Landish Also known as the Common Tongue or Elandian. The most basic and most widespread language of Eldahar.
High Landish Extra long words, flowery speech plus a lot of "fashionable" talk from the King's Courtiers.
Hai Landish A seamless blending of Hai and Landish that grew out of Haimir being a popular trade route for all the surrounding countries.
Mane Native tongue of the dwarves.
Long Mane Exactly what it says - an extension to the guttural Mane tongue; words are slurred and slowed in pronunciation to aid foreigners and stress importance.
Broken Mane Spoken primarily by giants, Broken Mane is Mane without any linking words like "and", "at" and "to". Hence a typical sentence would be "Hurak kill Golek" or "Hurak sleep, wake dawn, eat man, kill lots."
Belu The trade-tongue of Beldorn - focused on haggling, bartering and figures but also incorporating gestures and special handshakes.
Dasit The secret tongue of the Damorkian mages. Designed to be spoken within the actual Landish language and still be virtually undetectable, this tongue is essentially just a complex collection of vague comments that have special meanings, i.e. "The moon is hollow tonight," or "Willimir is up to his old tricks". Simple words like "Harvest" are assigned more important meanings, like "A harvest of hopeful trainee mages."
Han Vir A heavily accented version of Han with shortened words and broader meanings that came about through sailors having to shout through fog! Spoken only in Cos and its isles. Where it fails, their written language takes off.
Cosian is a highly complex and descriptive script making Cos renowned for its writings. Reading it aloud is a problem though as most people can't understand it, even natives.
Han Gok Another accented version of Han, but this time with a slant towards insults. The Malharand's are said to have fifty times more words in their tongue to insult someone than anyone else. Han Gok also leans towards battle speech with many words and phrases used in skirmishes filtering their way into more normal society. Listening to a Malharan trying to buy a loaf of bread, you would think the baker had killed his whole family, slept with his dog and then invaded half of Elandia!
Sea Chant The chanting tongue of the pirates of Gordakar ;- Little more than a glorified collection of battle hymns, battle songs and badly sung prayers to the sea that tend to be sung in the same key and pitch. Many have accused the Gors of being the worst singers alive, but to the Gor's, their Sea Chant is deeply meaningful and meant to be sung that way. Why sing like a girl when you're off to invade somewhere?
High Elven Like Elven but instead of being spoken, it is sung. The way it is sung often conveys more meaning than the words with "High" elves more attuned to each other's emotions. Because of this, "High" elves tend to be more expressive, charismatic and open than others.
Suraanese Akin to Japanese.

Rare Metals and Materials of Eldahar

Metal

Rarity

Description
Alaen 6 Aka Glass steel. A metal from the Homelands used by the 7 Star Families to conduct Metapsychic energy and glow from contact with their auras. Alaen remains the most popular metal of Elven Smiths and Qual. It can be treated to appear in any color imaginable.
Dulcium 7 Dark grey metal that attracts magic like a magnet. Extremely dense and heavy, Dulcium weighs 15 times heavier than
normal steel making it impractical to use as armor or weaponry. Dulcium also attracts light, hence its name.
Eng 9.7 Hardest metal known to man, dwarf or fey. Only Smiths of 20th level can attempt to forge it. It takes twenty times longer to forge than Alaen and is the only metal that can make weapons greater than +6 +6. It is also +50% resistant to magic. Can only be effected by extremes of cold - hence a Cold Forge is required to shape it.
Rasilon 9 Aka The Earth stone. Rasilon has several natural enhancing properties; the commonmost of which involves increasing the senses. Rasilon in its impure form is more common, however highly poisonous. Appears lime green.
Euphera 8.5 Aka The Singing metal. A rare and extremely difficult alloy made from impure Rasilon, Euphera appears dark green and is superb at conducting sound waves. Examples of its uses are in the creation of sonic weapons.
Magnan 6

A very unstable mineral that causes damage to virtually any other type of mineral / metal in existance by destabilizing the object's atomic structure. If Magnan is left next to Alaen for instance, after a few hours the Alaen will become as brittle as normal glass. Magnan is nearly impossible to mine and hardly anyone wants to.

Minog 8

A very hard and unflexible metal found primarily in Dwarven lands. It appears grey and dull, with a rough sandy texture to the touch. It's chief properties are in the absorbsion of magic as Minog is a natural battery for magical energy.

Like a battery though, Minog can only hold certain ammounts based upon its purity and size. Exceeding these ammount causes leakage. What's more, if Minog is combined with Magnan, the resulting leakage causes instability that can (and often does) result in a tremendous magical explosion.

Ithilan 10 Aka The Moon metal. A silvery reflective substance that remains harder than Alaen in daylight but becomes highly malleable under direct Moonlight. The perfect material for holding patterns of magic without decay.
Mirror Mir 8.3 See Mirror Mir for more information.
Shieng 9.1 Aka - Star Metal. A white metal that varies tremendously in weight depending on its forging. Shieng gleams under Starlight and if made correctly can actually vanish. Highly resistant to magic, Shieng adds +25% MR.
Adaneng 9.4 A rare alloy brought from the Homelands. By introducing a tiny piece of Eng into the equation, normal Adanta becomes much harder. Appears blue tinged and transparent. Cold forge required to manufacture.
Adanta 8.4 A red tinged metal that once forged becomes almost transparent.
Carbok 5 Aka Carbok Steel or Plas-Steel. A futuristic dull grey material that is light weight (approximately 1/5th weight of normal steel), very easy to mould and shape during processing and incredibly durable. Used primarily to make guns and shields.
Alenaur 7.1 Aka Mithril. A rare silver metal that holds tremendous value and if treated properly can be forged (by a Grand Master Smith) into extremely fine suits of chain mail. Resistant to magic +20%. Usually only used for decoration though or jewelery.
Alestaen 6.7 Aka Cold Steel - A steel alloy extremely resistant to heat.
Aloque 7.8 Yellow tinged soft silver ideal for decoration; Aloque actually remembers shapes and can be "taught" to assume different ones upon a special trigger; ie change of temperature etc.
Bronticium 9 Futuristic flexible metal with highly absorbitive properties vs concussion.
Vanaur 7.4 Appears as a plain smokey grey iron but when properly smithed is highly efficient vs planal creatures / objects and shimmers in their presence.
*Note - Rarity is graded 1 - 10 with 10 being the most rare. *
