My pledge is thus - As knowledge of this strange realm grows, so shall this scroll. Know that even now brave companions are risking their very souls to bring you pieces of information. After all, forewarned is forearmed. But listen well to my words, as merely reading about the Land beyond the Midnight Wall may be enough to damn you.

The Midnight Memorials

Name of Memorial Description

Denizen's of Midnight
Down through the centuries, several races, creatures and types of being have made Midnight their Home. Below are just some of them ;-
The Midnight DrynnThe Drynn were one of the seven Star Families and heralded from a permanently eclipsed world called Drowat. However after the great Cataclysm , only 872 survivors (from a population of 376,000) arrived on Eldahar. Shunned by the other families and outnumbered they headed North into the Land of Midnight and made it their new home.
But where the other Star Families adapted to their new environment and the disappearance of Orion in 201, the Drynn did not, favoring isolation and the "Purity" of the old ways. Then when Orion's latest creations - The Black and Dark Elves moved in with the Drynn (who they shared physical similarities with) and quickly took over, it wasn't long before the Drynn began making powerful enemies.
The Black Elves and Dark Elves wanted to make war with the Qual on Mount Eldahar and in the northlands there were hundreds of powerful, but peaceful spirits. So the Dark Children of Orion began summoning, binding and forcing the spirits to do their bidding - deliberately abusing the spirits to turn them into instruments of war. ANU, the will behind the collective of spirits was horrified. The Spirits (as one mind) decided to put an end to the atrocity and so began the War of Dark Desires (circa 820).
During this war the Black and Dark Elves suffered a great deal of casualties - losing one third of their number to the collective might of ANU. The Drynn however suffered terribly. Over several intense decades of war their number dwindled from 800+ down to under 50. It didn't help that as the Dark Elves lost their original bodies they took (by force) a new Drynn body to use. But as the Drynn dwindled down to such a small number the Dark Elves had to begin seeking bodies elsewhere, choosing their replacement bodies from the other races.
Eventually the surviving Drynn went into hiding, not only from ANU but from their "allies", the Dark Elves. ANU's judgement upon the Drynn had been final and eternal but even ANU could change its mind. The Spirits had already continued their jihad until the Drynn (despite their hiding) were threatened with extinction. Then out of the blue, ANU called off the war.
Recognizing a lost cause, the Dark Elves gave up on the northland and moved southwards, continuing their war against the Qual in other ways, leaving the Drynn as scapegoats behind them.
The War would have ended there but the Drynn fought back in an unexpected way. In hiding they experimented with samples of ANU's essence and used their fantastic intellects to create a spiritual pathogen. Naming it "Purity" it was designed to preserve and save their race by carrying their genetic sequence embedded in the spiritual pathogen, from one spirit to another.
"Purity" proved a complete success. The pathogen spread not only to living things but non living objects too. What the Drynn had managed to create was a new type of collective Spirit capable of genetically altering matter to respawn the Drynn race.
ANU was horrified and the war began again in earnest. This time though ANU would not stop until all the carriers of "Purity" were no more.
With the coming of Shaman, one carrier of "Purity" survived ANU's "purging" and passed into the Land of Daydark to remain in hiding. The "broken" ANU thought Purity (or as it was now called - "Midnight") was no longer a threat as Shaman (AKA Ischandi) had made Midnight swear an oath to not infect anyone or anything, thereby "sterilising" Purity. *Note - Despite this the Spirits of Cairis still adhered to ANU's decree, attempting to kill the Spirit Midnight on sight.*

Drynn Society

Drynn society has always been a gynocracy - where females are the ruling class and males the workers. One of the reasons for this is that Drynn Females have stronger metafunctions than the males and can cloak themselves in powerful illusions.

As a race the Drynn are secretive and dark. They plot, kill and backstab, united in a common hatred of all other races.

Drynn abilities

As underground dwellers the Drynn have developed some unique abilities not found among the other six Star Families. Utilising their innate psychokinesis they can perform incredible feats of acrobatics - running up and along walls, clambering at speed across ceilings and hurling their enemies away with psychokinetic blasts.

The Drynn also developed two secretive forms of communication. The first, called Dark Sign, was used to prevent mental eavesdropping by their enemies. Using complex hand signals the Drynn can convey practically anything through sign as the language contains over 3000 unique gestures and shapes !
The second form of communication indicative of the Drynn and their assassin-like battle tactics is called the Whispering Wind. With this they again use their latent metafunctions to "whisper" thoughts on a private channel that only other Drynn can hear. Despite having experts in Farsensing, the other races have never managed to "tap" into the Drynn racial channel.

Practising a type of magic they call "The Craft" this all female group are a veritable smorgasboard of characters ranging between the utterly insane and completely self indulged to the power crazed and oddball genius. But despite their huge differences in character, two things bind them towards similar goals - The unknown Prize and their devotion to the mysterious Witch King.

K'dina died in 2601, a few short months after killing her sister K'diva.

The Midnight Damned
The Damned reside beyond the Midnight Wall, numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Two types of Damned exist - The Damned Souls who have already died, their souls snared by the Midnight Sun and it's Alternate Dream World and the Living Damned, those who still live, but have had their spirits suspended in ice (either willingly or unwillingly), allowing their minds to be free to Dream walk unhindered.

One thing links all the Damned - their Nightmares. A Damned Soul believes it is damned and as such influences how the Dream World reacts to their thoughts and fantasies. The Dream World of the Midnight Sun is filled to the brim with people's interpretations of Hell, making it easy for people to suffer but virtually impossible for them to enjoy themselves.

As the Dream World of the Midnight Sun is so biased towards Hellish things it is no wonder that it is referred to as Hell or Daig in almost every country on the continent.
