![]() Nadir was born in the town of Pathway, northeast of the citadel of Daigyth in Daydark during the year 2574. Mostly harsh and antagonistic, he can still be gallant when the occasion suits and infect people with his optimism. He firmly believes he is capable of anything, as long as there's a plan. When he was born, his mother Tinera was visited by a benevolent spirit. This spirit blessed Nadir, saying he would be a great warrior and always receive the "Last Blow" in combat as long as he never injured or killed a female. When he was able to understand, his mother told him of the blessing so that he could stick to it's sole condition. He grew up as the son of the Champion of Daigyth and head of the Moon Kori. Bernok and Tinera would never have been able to marry under Daydark law if it weren't for Bernok's heroism and the Peacebringer's permission. Bernok taught Nadir all his sword skills and it was well known in the northlands that Bernok knew no equal. When Nadir turned 17, Bernok was killed by Orn hunters. A new Champion was need and Nadir bested all other challengers to take the title. His first mission was of revenge, exterminating any Orn within a hundred miles of the citadel. The Orn did not forget him. Three years later on his way through the valley of Halinar he was ambushed and driven blindly into the Fell reaches. He fought to stay alive for five days and nights until awakening in Ischandi's tower. Ischandi, greatest of the Wise, restored his health and showed him how to get back to Daigyth. But Nadir needed a new sword to defend himself as his last one had fallen down a crevasse. Ischandi took him to a block of black ice and said "The Orn must not just be defeated, but crushed entirely. If you can find the heart of this ice and make it beat as one with your own, then no man will be able to stand against you, for you shall be like a force of nature. But choose your nature wisely young Nadir." Nadir beat at the rock until his fists bled, eventually freeing a black bladed sword called "Manslayer". With it he carved out a legendary name for himself in north and faithfully served his Lord for ten years. Items Manslayer

Abilities
Recent history In 2600 Nadir was one of several Champions summoned to help Lord Dwyer of Doomwaith recover his daughter and the son of the King of Aegis from Mormen. He met such heroes as Myka the Fey, Fiann Frostbringer and Argland of the Glaive. Together they tracked the kidnapped youngsters to Louhri's Ice Mountain. After many adventures and a few deaths along the way, Nadir fought off a small Mordarkian army attacking Doomwaith and established himself as one of Daydark's finest. By 2601 though, Nadir's fame went to his head. He began calling himself Lord Nadir, despite not being recognized by the Kori as such. After raising his own army and getting several notorious Lords behind him, the Wise conceded to his demands. (They were beginning to get cold feet over North's closeness to Louhri and decided to play the two heroes off against one another). But Nadir, getting no joy from the Wise, had gone over to the Sorcerer Sacaster. Sacaster promised the Hero Lord a land of his own and the ability to kill North. Believing North to be an agent of the Ice Queen (a creature Nadir despised), Nadir agreed and set about North's death. The two confronted one another, but though evenly matched in skill and purpose, alas fate conspired for North to win. Nadir was slain. |
Aran
was found in the wilds of Daya and adopted by the Warrior Sejast and his
family.
Raised as part of the Mirr tribe, Aran lived and hunted from an early age around the underground Dayan town of Mirris Pallow, just east of Erisea. He was a forward, adventurous child who befriended animals and aspired to be a hunter, accompanied by his pet dog "Moop." When he was about 14, he met a Dayan Tree witch called Elsbeth who charmed him into her service. She desired materials for her potions, sending Aran on dangerous missions to obtain them. One such mission took him to a bear's lair. There he slew a giant grizzly followed immediately by a hideous Wyvern, all with one knife. Aran you see was destined to be the greatest hunter Daya would ever know. In return for his service, Elsbeth gave Aran several different potions. Each gave him the powers of a different beast; like the Bear potion that increased STR and CON and the Eagle potion that increased sight. When he was 15, Aran traveled to the Dayan holy isle of Risen to take the Rite's of Manhood. He traveled with Avelar, Danry (his hunter friend) and two others called Kal and Salis. Like all would be Hunters of Thand, he had to wait on the shore for 7 days, then hunt alone to bring back meat and hide for sacrifices. Before sailing to the island, Aran then had to clean himself under a nearby waterfall, dry himself in Clase leaves and don special body paint. Once on the island, Aran met Trasel - the High Priest of Thand the Hunter and entered the sacred hut. Therein he saw the Sacred beast - the skull of a gigantic dragon that had been slain by Thand's hunter's many years before. Approaching the skull, Aran performed the Rites of Manhood, slashed his palm and let blood spill on the skull. For any normal person, the skull would have been just a skull. But Aran's blood was special - as a Lord of Beasts, Aran's blood awakened the dormant spirit in the dragon's skull, granting visions of far off places. The dragon skull was Eskanu's and Aran's actions accidently started a chain of events that would lead to war and bloodshed on a grand scale. Aran went on to learn of his Destiny and meet the 12 Cat Lords, learning how his father was one of their number (Foose Cloud leaper) who had transformed into a human and conceived him with the witch Elsbeth. Fighting in the forthcoming Ulak war - when a horde of 40,000 Ulaks invaded Daya and southern Esia, Aran gained the sword Beastslayer and fell in love with the Shield Maiden - Parri Winters. Eventually, 3 years later, he joined the Merlendy Resistance and united the whole of chaotic Daya under his leadership, using the Diamond Titan Cat statue "Ezoe" to carry him into battle. Aran and Parri had 3 children by 2601. Karri in 2599, Luke in 2600 and Nanelia in 2601. |

Champion of the Balance
In brief - because this man's life is a long one;- Minnow was born in the back of a tavern. Exactly what tavern and where is not known, but from the moment of his birth, his Destiny was decided. His first years were spent learning how to steal and steal well. He was considered a master thief by the age of 10, imprisoned 3 times by the age of 14 (he escaped each time) and wanted in every state of Esium by the age of 16. He adopted many a disguise and alias along the way - the most notorious being "The Gray Fox". In 2591, at the tender age of 17, Minnow met a wandering magus called Carpus who taught him the basic's of spell casting. In 2595 he met Nathaniel. (a depressing young man who had just joined the local Coven of Mordark). They formed an unlikely but powerful friendship that would span several years and more than one reality. During these years, Minnow would often be visited by an apparition. This spirit called itself Xarimog, a Lord of Chaos and kept tempting Minnow to join his side of some great struggle. Minnow always laughed and played Xarimog against himself without truly understanding who or what a Lord of Chaos was. One adventure Nathaniel and Minnow went on involved climbing the Hallowed Mountain. Both were looking for ways to escape justice, the Coven of Mordark and their recent loss of body parts, but instead found an imprisoned worshipper of Ancient Gods. This man replaced Nathaniel's severed hand with the Hand of Kwyll and Minnow's lost eye with the Eye of Rynn, planning to use the two adventurers to assassinate Elluva on Mount Eldahar and awaken his former masters ! Nathaniel and Minnow left, used and abused their new gifts for a while before returning to kill the mad worshipper. As Nathaniel and Minnow's adventures became more bizarre, leading them to alternate worlds and other planes of existence, they both became more involved in the cosmic struggle of Law and Chaos. They fought against Ilvir the Damned, the minions of Maloth, Morgrim and the Lady Slavia with her black and white, two faced henchman. But it was meeting Nynsagul of the Doors that really opened up a Universe of Possibilities. Nynsagul knew both men were pivotal to the conflict between Law and Chaos; he enticed them both with magic and adventure whilst at the same time, prodding them in the direction of their destinies. A servant of the Cosmic Balance, Nynsagul succeeded very well in his plan. While rescuing the Lady Helen of Dawn, Nathaniel and Minnow became separated. Nathaniel loved the Lady Helen, but watched in horror as she was taken away by Ilvir the Damned. Years later Nathaniel learned Helen had given birth to a son, his son Han. Traveling on different paths, Minnow and Nathaniel ended up on different worlds. At this time, Minnow saved a whole world from Maloth and gained the Armor of Saints (also known as the Ivory Armor). He also gained Savior, a sword of the Balance. One
terrible day, Minnow learned of Nathaniel's death and blamed Maloth. He
decided to hunt down Helen of Dawn and save her from Ilvir (as that would
have been what Nathaniel wanted).
As Minnow realized he loved Helen, Ilvir reappeared in pursuit. The Damned Lord struck Helen dead before Minnow could stop him. Enraged, Minnow beat the Damned Lord down to submission and would have taken his head if it weren't for Xarimog's interference. Suddenly Minnow realized that it was Xarimog all along, not Maloth, who had planned it all. Taking Han and Xander Dawn to Nynsagul for safety, Minnow began his search for the Chaos Lord. It took him many months of travel on the Sea of Fate to find the seat of Xarimog's power - a world totally dominated by the Chaos Lord. With no one to help him, Minnow confronted the Lord of Deceit and somehow triumphed... it was then that Minnow understood the Nature of the Balance - No Lord of Law or Lord of Chaos could wield greater power than that which it confronted. Defeated, Xarimog's standing in the Court of Chaos dropped dramatically so that deprived of power, he dwindled in the Universe. Minnow
had taken his first step to Immortality.
Meeting
Nox.
Lady Nox's Castle outside of Time had been invaded by Ilvir and the Wheel of Chaos. If Ilvir could understand how to use Lady Nox's "Entity" or Enigma he would be able to interfere with Servants of the Balance - pluck people out of Time at will and raise Xarimog back to and beyond his original position of power. Minnow, Kaine and the 4 other heroes rushed to Nox's rescue, only to find the Lady gone - already dissipated across the Universe by her own "Entity" and unable to return. Minnow and Kaine confronted Ilvir, but again the Damned Lord escaped - falling into the "Entity" and its cosmic tendrils to be transported to a random place and moment in existence. Ilvir had failed again to restore the Chaos Lord Xarimog, at this point giving up on the whole idea and going into hiding. Kaine tried using the "Entity" to summon Lady Nox, but instead summoned another Minnow. There were now two Minnow's outside of Time and space in Lady Nox's castle. This other Minnow was a younger version of the same man, now removed from History. Not stopping there, Kaine unwittingly broke the Laws of the Universe again and accidentally summoned yet another Minnow out of History, making three Minnows standing in the same place. Eventually Kaine "mastered" the "Entity" and summoned a Lady Nox - but a Lady Nox of his own design. The original Nox was no more, so Kaine had to imagine who and what she had been. His idea of Nox became real and stood before them. 6' tall with long black hair, black skin, delicate features and star-filled pupils. She proved friendly (a trait Kaine had imagined she would be) and set about trying to right all the disasters Ilvir and Kaine had caused with her "Entity". Kaine was sent back to Urth, but Minnow was kept in the castle. As there were now three of him, Nox had an idea. She couldn't undo what Kaine had done so instead set about making good use of it. Two Minnow's were returned to normal time and space - but the third (a spare) became her Knight - The Knight of Night so to speak. She equipped him with Jet black head to toe armor of unnatural design and texture. She gave him a jet black sword of questionable matter and sent him back into the Universe to try and put right the colossal cock-up Kaine and Ilvir had made of Destiny. See Sword of Nox. By unraveling a few threads of existence, Kaine and Ilvir had unknowingly sent the Universe spiraling towards collapse. Nox would be able to make things right, but only with Minnow's "hand's on" help as the situations were too delicate and finely balanced to manipulate from her Castle. She created the Star of Overrule and told Minnow to take it into the Universe. It would help bring back the Cosmic Balance by weighting things one way or the other... Minnow would be it's custodian - giving it to those that needed it in the scheme of things. At the End of Time Minnow eventually becomes the Knight in Black and Gold (more commonly known as "The Blank"). The Blank returns to the back of a Tavern, somewhere undecided and witnesses the birth of a child. So ends one man's journey through Time... or is it his beginning. All the stats, items and skills below are for Minnow in Esia at the time of him being "The Gray Fox". |
