Men of IcegardMajor Kerece

THE PALE FOLK

Lord Bastill
Latest of a long line of cursed Lord's of Icegard. Cursed by the Witch Madisra for daring to desire the Witch King's Throne, Bastil (like his predecessors) is a complete loon. Havoc now has him locked up in one of Icegard's towers (for his own safety).
General Hurin Havoc
Ice Gard's Witchborn General. An immense pale man who can magically swell himself to 20 feet in height. A militant, brutal man, Havoc has a reputation for being ruthless. Currently rules Icegard in Bastil's name but wants to take the throne - just as long as he can bypass the curse (see above).
General Mishnallo
An experienced, moustached General (called Mish by his friends) with dark bushy eyebrows. Mishnallo's speciality is mountain tactics. He cooks a mean lamb stew.
General Shak
Another experienced military pale man, Shak's career has had it's up's and downs. A man with a passion for womanising, Shak has been demoted to rank and file on more occasions than anyone can count. He is only a General now because Hurin likes him. Shak's trademark wild blonde hair and beard (large enough for a nest of rats to live in) cause him to stand out on the battlefield.
Major Kerece
Kerece is Hurin's righthand man with no job being too dirty or despicable. Kerece handles all of the General's more questionable tasks - like spying and assassinations and as such, operates as Icegard's Spymaster. With contacts in every land, Kerece foils on average, three assassination attempts a month.

Kerece is currently married with 3 children. However he would have them all killed in an instant if he thought they could be used against him. He is utterly dedicated to his own thirst for riches and power.

Kerece knows the Witch Erohna and has worked for her in the past.

In early 2617, Kerece had a memorable encounter with Ragnek Stormcrow. Whilst helping General Hurin carry out a military coo in the Citadel Icegard, Kerece was tormented mentally by the new Herald of Daig - and forever changed by the experience.

Major Lawdryn
Lawdryn of the Krystalgard. Most skilled swordsman in the Icegard army and most respected by the common soldiery. Lawdryn can take on and kill five men at once without getting scratched. He is a disciplined, clean cut individual who aspires towards a perfection of self.

However Lawdryn is a useless tactician because he refuses to fight dirty. He prefers straight fights.

Lt. Kruse
Kruse of the Krystalgard is the typical Paleman soldier. He despises normal humans, pours scorn down upon his rivals and believes that the Ice Vein gives him the God-given right to be arrogant and self serving.

Despite these traits he is an excellant military man and will happily follow any order - no matter how insane.

Lt. Maydrok
Maydrok is as thick as two short planks. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant by winning a bet and gets things done by shouting a lot. He loves torturing people and abusing small people. He himself is large and quite fat.
Mathon
A War troll and current head of Icegard's Troll legion. Mathon enjoys various privileges in the Court of Icegard - such as eating at the same table as the Majors. Regarded by many of his own kind as a civilized lap dog to the humans, Mathon's behaviour at the dinner table is nevertheless exemplary.

Mathon wields a large spiked mace. He is a bit of chef in his spare time, boasting the best stuffed roast human in Icegard.

Altimor
of the
Krystalgard
An intelligent paleman soldier next in line for promotion. Altimor enjoys riding and listening to the great outdoors. He tends to spend his time sat alone in the forest.
He is currently in love with a human woman called Meera but too ashamed and frightened to reveal it; Pale folk are forbidden to love humans (though they do tend to rape and eat a lot of them).
Krisen
of the
Krystalgard
Friend of Altimor. Krisen sleeps a lot - especially on watch. Treated like a younger brother by the more intelligent Altimor, Krisen enjoys firing arrows at peasants from the tops of walls. On the whole he gets bored very easily.

THE HUMANS

Luke of Bannerfall
Luke is a tall, bearded human warrior from a long line of foresters. His size and brutish appearance hide a quite astute and wise man. The father of 3 daughters and 4 sons, Luke has a grudge to bear against the Pale folk. His youngest daughter Soria was raped and scarred by two drunken Krystalgard at the age of fourteen and his four sons have all been killed in offensives against Darkmoon (used as fodder by the Krystalgard).

Luke is 6'3" and 43 years old. He fights with a staff.

Vern of Ostahar
Waylind's righthand man and acting sergeant, Vern is a natural soldier and totally devoted to defending human rights against Pale folk tyranny. He has a brown bushy beard and long sideburns. He is also missing two teeth on his left side from a brawl.
Vern's favourite saying is "You'll never know unless you take a dip."
Arla of Icegard
Ex-priestess of Madisra's Witch Temple, Arla considers herself a survivor. She fancies the hell out of Waylind and comes across as a daring, raunchy girl, willing to do anything to get what she wants.

Currently in hiding and being trained as one of Waylind's soldiers

Sergeant Finch
of Icegard
Finch grew up with Dole in the village of Lumber, southwestern Icegard. The two young boys spent most of their childhood's planning to become legendary warriors but soon found the harsh reality of Icegard's racism to be too much. At the age of twenty one, Finch secured himself the rank of Sergeant by saving a Krystalgard soldier called Yonirik from a rampaging Fey'de'ki troll.

Finch married his childhood sweetheart Tamara at the age of sixteen. But Tamara died from a wasting sickness three years later. Thier son Maryn is now 11.

Finch doesn't like the Pale folk of Icegard but lacks the resolve to rock any boats. He is loyal but too indecisive to lead any number of people. He likes roasted nuts and large bonfires.

Sergeant Dole
of Icegard
Dole is argumentative and loves a fight. Larger by a hand than Finch, his best friend, Dole made his way up to Sergeant in the Icegard military through hard work and toil. As Head of "Troll Waste", Dole was responsible for keeping the Citadel clear of dung, with six men beneath him to shovel it all day long.

Dole longs for a good battle and firmly believes every man has one good fight in his life. Dole hopes to marry but tends to drift from one woman to another. He changes his mind all the time and has opinions on almost any subject.

Kormoron of Icegard

Ice trolls

The Yailin Shukran are giant intelligent trolls that live in the Fell Reaches around Daydark in the north.
Despite the majority of the Shukran being of below average intelligence, thirteen of their number were chosen by the Drynn as subjects of genetic experiments against ANU. Capable of magic, enchantment, rituals and summonings, these 13 trolls became powerful figures in the history of the northland, plotting on the side of Orin to bring about the downfall of the Wise and reclaim their land from human invaders.

Unfortunately by 2600 they had dwindled down to 9 in number.

Shalmaze (f), Agrue, Rasha, Sherna (f), Vader, Bane, Straker, Nox (f), Shukran.

Idisra Plain

A large desolate place in Esia - just south of the Downs of Dunbar and west of Esium City. Famous for it's lost Citadels, like Merlendy and Hiemir. Some herbs such as Blood nettle grow only on the Idisra.

Idisra is a name going back to the time of Madisra - the witch. She used to live there. Before that the entire area was only known as The Plain of Merlen, (named after the Esian Princess Merlen who tended various groves there.)

Idisra wasn't always desolate. In Merlen's time, pre 10th century, it was a flourishing place of verdant greenery. But after the Elder Winter, the plants failed to return.

Ijorik the Alchemist

A brilliant alchemist who lived in Esium city from 2588 to 2597; Ijorik specialized in rare potions such as Heroism and Invisibility. But it was after gaining the Gourd of Potions from Nathaniel and Minnow that Ijorik's knowledge grew to the point where his services were no longer paid for, but taken. Istar and the Crucible of Magic captured Ijorik in 2599 and forced him to make them potions.

He was killed trying to make an escape.

Solarin
Who took possession of Istarach the Wise,
and formed the Crucible of Magic.

Solarin Ynnkra is one of Orion's Children - one of the 12 Eshwin or more commonly called Black Elves. Created by Orion to be a guardian of the lesser races, Solarin like the rest of the Eshwin found his father's wishes difficult to fulfill being constantly pursued by the Qual and branded as a monster. Eventually he gave up on the notion and embraced all out war in his struggle to find out Orion's fate and bring down the Qual.

Spending most of his life (from 202 up to 2500) engaged in subversive and secret battle against Mount Eldahar, Solarin was responsible for a great many disasters over the years; some of them detailed below...

IstarOne of Ischandi's Wise

In 2598 Istarach the Wise mysteriously vanished from the northland. His disappearance was down to Solarin Ynnkra - Eshwin and Black Elf of Orion.

Solarin had been without a physical body for about 500 years, existing as a black crystal Heartstone. When Istarach came across the stone in Drathelmox's lair, he failed to realise what it was (having never heard of Black Elves before). When Istarach handled the stone, Solarin took temporary control of Istarach's mind, forcing the Wise Wizard to place the stone on his forehead. As soon as he did, a battle raged for possession of Istarach's physical body; a battle that lasted 3 days and nights with Solarin as the victor.

Solarin not only gained the use of Istarach's body but also gained access to Istarach's repertoire of rituals and spells. Combining them with his own Immortal knowledge of spiritualism made Solarin extremely dangerous indeed.

Stats for Istar after being possessed by Solarin Ynnkra (circa 2600).

The Aegis Staff A +10% +3/+3 weapon made entirely of light. Originally a solar power rod used to fuel a Supernova reactor core on a high tech star ship the rod now acts as a powerful magical artifact. A x2 power point enhancer that can produce virtually unlimited light at no cost. It also acts as a x1 PP pre-cast spell store (i.e. it can store the mage's total PP in pre-cast spells that can instantly be released from the staff). All light spells are half cost and all RAN and RAD modifiers are canceled - allowing light spells to have a zonal effect of miles if necessary.

Staff can also be summoned any distance directly to Istarach's hand.

Li-Re-Umbra
Ring of Lightning
Silver ring that can absorb up to 100 POW or 500 PP or Lightning before discharging into the ground. The discharge can be quite lethal, doing 10d10+10 damage to anything between it and the earth. Istar cannot control when it discharges though. The discharge is automatic, as soon as the ring becomes full.

A steel bracer that turns 1st to 5th level spells with 95% certainty. It has the side effect of increases hair growth by a factor of 5.
The Sirius Shield
An extremely powerful item. An invisible shield approx 3' in diameter that can turn any element (up to 20 levels per round, one attack / element at a time per round.) The shield is attached to Istar's aura, on his back.
The Phase Falcon
of Terjon Pilot
Golden falcon that allows Istar to travel between the spiritual planes.
Li - Lumir
A magical sword of light that can sever through any non magical material, Li Lumir appears like a light sabre. The sword can be used for 5 minutes a day before needing to be recharged (so little and not often). Imlada
Imlada is a gynarchy ruled by the First Family, a group of 7 powerful women who answer only to the wisdom of The Lake. The Lake is magical with a waterfall and one occupant, a Ki-rin spirit called Sisterling. It inter-connects all the First Family, able to influence dreams, warn them of danger and/ or of another's death. It can give "sendings" and channel its own spirit to them across great distances in order to preserve their lives.

    The First Family

1 Seska Tirias Sea defence / warcraft
2 Annalade Ground defence / law enforcement/ judge
    3 Symina Farming / food
    4 Celeste Building
    5 Farah Trade
    6 Saja Drugs
7 Aurora Animists / Faith and worship

    Cities Imladris, Tharis Diva
Towns Terris Navor, Balleris Vekkem, Charoris Sannoc

    Customs & Costume
All women wear beads in their hair. The number of beads denotes station. One white bead means low caste. Seven beads of alternating colour identifies a First Family member. A single black bead means mourning. No other beads are worn at this time. Sometimes jewels replace the beads. Clothing tends to be loose and of rich variety with sarongs and elaborate head-dresses common-place.
Men are forbidden to carry weapons unless licensed or under the employ of a woman. Most male slaves to Imladan noble-women are eunuchs.
Low caste men are forbidden to look a woman in the eye.
Most men are addicted to a drug called Death-eye. (Black rimmed eyes are a sign of withdrawel.) They are said to have a "Death-wish" or to be gazing at Death. The drug is grown on large farms, refined by Saja of the First Family and distributed. It has been like this for four hundred years.
Men have tried manufacturing the drug themselves but failed because of Annalade's Vixens. Without a dose every day the men quickly weaken and go mad. To OD on Death-eye is to go beserk. The victim becomes uncontrollable and extremely violent. Some loyal men choose to do this protecting their Lady.
Most women are addicted to the drug - Blue Haze. Haze provides them with heightened sensations and sexuality. Some women volunteer themselves as Breeders to make money.

    *** ALL IMLADAN'S ARE ADDICTED TO A DRUG ***

The wealthiest men are those who excel at arms or breeding. Consequently they are the most heroic, strongest, healthiest or best looking.
Criminals are branded on their left cheek with the mark of the Lawless.
Accused people are judged before a court of no less than 3 peers, all female.
Only women can own land or trade.
All women go to school from 7 to 16 - lessons include mathematics and fighting. Men however are taught farming, building and especially ship building. Many men are sequestered away in military camps and trained to fight.
The women do not treat the men unfairly. Men do not suffer under the gynarchy. Bonding is common but the man's rights seldom equal the womans.

The most powerful man in Imlada is "Daymus Cartãise". He is an undefeated General and wealthy "land-owner" bonded to Celeste of the First Family. She grants him tremendous freedom.

    Philosophy
Every man and woman must fulfill their destiny and accomplish something with their lives. Suicide is condemned. Being unhappy with one's station is against the grain of belief. Animists prepare the dying for their dissolution back into the elements. Everything you are returns to the 4 elements. Imladan's do not believe in the soul of an individual - but the soul of the world. If someone refuses to give their soul up to the greater soul, they are outcast - ie ghosts. Shadow is therefore seen as a terrible land of selfish people.

    Ire
Name given to a very large and mean black dragon. The Palasdine Empire believe Ire to be the embodiment of Doomsday. In the first days of the Empire, scriptures describe a terrible shadow falling across the sun and black firey rain falling for 3 days and nights. During this biblical a black winged beast of monstrous size slaughtered 40,000 people and laid waste to over one hundred settlements. The only place to survive its wrath was the town of Jinarro. The holy book of Palasdine says it was a lone archer called Kabe who turned back Ire's assault by shooting the beast in one eye.

Ire - another name for Orion - as called in Suraan.
