In
the beginning...
See Timeline of Homeland's for more Pre-History. A disaster on the Qual Home world of Sha'lean causes their most Ancient artefact, The Titan Gate, to implode. The collapsing gate acts like a Black Hole, gathering exponentially in strength until nothing can escape it. Before the Gate's pull becomes lethal, The Seven races of Orion flee through it to safety. |
|
|
As
they arrive on a new World, they find they cannot close the gate behind
them. The Cataclysm catches up and begins devouring this world too. Another
mass evacuation begins, with races indigenous to this world joining them
back through the gate.
As each
world dies, they flee to another, their numbers swelling from the now homeless
races and cultures they meet until 127 inhabited worlds later, the refugee's
number over 3 million.
|

|
|
A Million lost souls arrive on Eldahar Mid Eldar Spring. Arriving through the last (or first) gate, the Qual realise that they can close it behind them, shutting the Cataclysmic forces outside in the void. This they do, sealing Eldahar and it's Primary Gate so that nothing can enter or leave. (By sealing this main gate, other lesser gate sites around the world stop working.) The
World of Eldahar is not deserted. A race of beings rule over it as Gods.
Orion, Father of the Qual, gathers up the World's Heart and takes it with him to Mount Eldahar. There he establishes his rule and puts down any Titan resistance. FALSE. Races loyal to the Titans prepare their own retribution against Orion. But before they can act, he shields the continent of Eldahar from the rest of the world. FALSE. |
|
|
With so many races, different cultures, languages, beliefs and Gods in one place, it takes all of the Qual working day and night to prevent war. TRUE. But it is through domination and fear that they do so. |
|
|
Orion
holds a great Tourney. Kings and their Champions compete in a variety of
"games". The prizes are areas of land on the continent. Once everyone is
assigned a land of their own, Orion lays down the "Rules of Kings".
The rulers of each land agree (some grudgingly), to abide by Orion's rules, in return for help feeding their people and farming the land. It takes many years for each country to settle and adapt. |

Orion, concerned by the humans and their appetite for destruction, comes up with a plan aimed at speeding up their mental evolution. Orion's plan does not go down well with the Eldar Qual Caris and Elluva, who believe it to be too brutal and restrictive. They also don't like Orion's plan to create perfect Qual (effectively knocking the original Qual off their perch as Supreme beings.) |

Momentous
Times
For
a more detailed account of this Time,
The Dragon conflict reaches its peak when Eskanu kills Baphomet the Dragon King. Some of the Eldar Qual, led by Elluva, plot to overthrow Orion, believing his plans for humanity to be insane. Orion's experiments with the World Mind come to a head when he almost achieves mastery over it. However Orion's tests do not go unnoticed or unopposed - The Tain demand that Orion stop. Orion does not reply. Forced to act to protect their heritage and history, Dagga and the other Tain (Titans) attack Mount Eldahar. The Eshwin, led by Solarin Ynnkra, sabotage Mount Eldahar's shields, allowing the Tain inside. The Eshwin hope that by assisting the Tain, some sort of peaceful compromise can be arranged. However the Tain believe that the Eshwin are just as bad as the Qual and are working towards their own ends. The Tain pollute all the Heartstones on the mountain. Orion seeks to become one with the World Mind. In his desire to do so, he manages to Create a physical representation of the World Mind, shaped like a large Heartstone. The Tain confront Orion high above Eldahar's continents in a metaphysical showdown. Orion overtakes them and seizes the World with his mind, but at the last moment loses concentration as the Tain, Dagga, defies his will. Losing control at such a crucial moment throws Orion's mind into chaos. The resulting struggle between Dagga, the Tain and Orion causes the World to break. The Heart of the World is broken. Law and Chaos manifest themselves in the World - entering through a crack in the Heartstone. Orion "disappears" from the world. Eskanu begins taking form, born from the fear and paranoia of the World. Though it will take many centuries for Eskanu to truly manifest, her presence is felt from the very beginning. The Tain are severely weakened, surrounded by a new Astral plane and denied access Dreamside - where all their powers originate. Having lost the Crowns of Power (or Keys as they call them) in the confrontation with Orion, the Tain are quickly hunted and imprisoned by the Qual. The children of Arlon, loyalists to Orion, continue to fight in his honor. They are eventually defeated, but allowed to resettle off Mount Eldahar on the far away Shining islands (later called Mengale). Some of thier number, a group of Sorceror's called "The El'vista", swear revenge against those Eldar who plotted against Orion. The greatest of these being Kreshe. The
Eshwin and Drai'ma'ke flee Mount Eldahar and go into hiding. Eldars Elluva
and Caereva take charge of the Qual, declaring Orion's new children to
be abominations.
Eldar Nearward is imprisoned for his rebellious actions and loyalty to Orion's cause. The first of the Sun Kings is crowned in Vala. Thenox creates and shapes Daig, bringing order and structure to a Dream World gone mad. To help him, he enlists a dozen notorious Damned souls, binding each of them to one of Orion's uncompleted Heartstones. |

Soloman
learns magic from the Pentacull of Erlendy. He shows so much promise that
the Pentacull begin to fear him.
Acting on Ischandi's fragmented memories, Soloman finds the Jixiliah Mistral in Dark Sea - just next to the Black Portal - The Portal of Night. Soloman starts attempting to meddle with the Jixliah's programming but fails. Eventually he attempts to use his most secret and special object - The White Ring (an object he technically hasn't even made yet) to undo what Ischandi has created and bend it to his will. After all, pretending to have made a Jixiliah will look really cool when he next visits the Eldar. However, what happens next does not go to Soloman's plan. The Jixliah does indeed develop free will but refuses to obey Soloman's commands. Instead by attempting to get it to rename itself, it chooses "Wan" and tells Soloman to go away. Altur receives his first brief vision of this being but despite his efforts to locate it, spend years before he finally does. Note - Receiving some inspiration from the White Ring and its history with Ischandi and Daycaster, the newly named Jixliah has no compulsion to obey Soloman. Instead, it treats him just like any other intruder. Realising he may have caused a potential problem, Soloman retreats but keeps a close eye on what happens next. |

Prince Ciriant of Alinor is slain by "The Unspoken Oath" on the Bridge of Tears. Cartanis, Ciriant's best friend, asks the Gods for aid. A mysterious knight in black and gold armor takes him to an ancient barrow. Inside he finds the sword "Spirit Wind", last remaining essence of the Dragon King Baphomet. Alinor's

the Kaomi Shamans on a pilgrimage to Dark Sea in Eastern Daas. They find
Darksea deserted - recently abandoned by the Cabal
of Suraan - a sect of magicians intent on
Spiritual Supremacy of the World. Altur and his brothers make themselves
at home upon a hill above Darksea. This hill, later becomes known as the
Holy Hill of Wan.
Months later, Altur and his brothers find the Jixliah - Wan and the Portal of Night. After talking to this being and studying it, Altur becomes convinced that Wan is a God. When Wan talks of the Eternal Spring, Altur knows that this entity before him is closer to HIS God than Ortha, Emonra or any of the others could possibly be. He and his brothers begin calling themselves Priests of Wan. They wear black and white as Wan is black and white. |

The
Undead Lords.
Elaida Kalim, Guaire Sasroch and Seer Tibus Kalim (Elaida's brother), read the book and perform the "Ritual of Eternity" a.k.a "The Ascension of the 3." They underestimate the power of the ritual and suffer terrible side effects, being transformed into Eternal undead. They take on the names, Makaila, Greyog and Thorgustan. Makaila becomes obsessed by spirits and craves their worship. She begins a religion with herself at the head. Greyog delights in pleasures of the flesh, blood and torture, allying with Thawdred for the sheer hell of it. Thorgustan, disgusted with what he has become, goes into hiding. Greyog
soon tracks Thorgustan down, persuading him to come back and complete reading
from the book. Greyog lies by saying "We must
complete this second ritual. Only then will our powers be complete."

tries to protect her son from Makaila, but in attacking Makaila, she is
accidently killed by one of Makaila's devout guards.
Greyog and Thawdred begin hunting Makaila. Concerned for her existence, Makaila pours her spirit into the land, dissolving her essence so it cannot be stolen. Much
of Makaila's power goes into Aiah, her most devout priestess.
|
| 1084-1087 | Altur,
holyest and oldest of the Kaomi Domans, marries Aiah, High Priestess of
Makailla. They have seven daughters and name them after the 7 astral winds.
Ankhet,
Aia, Tayi, Sola, Lupa, Miri, and Si'wa.
Note - These daughters are the precursor to the Sisters of Sorrow. Altur shows Aiah his "living" God Wan and the Portal of Night. She recognises Wan as a powerful entity but refuses to believe in the existence of the Eternal Spring / Flame. This difference in their beliefs causes a great deal of debate between them. Aiah continues to channel the spirit of Makailla. |
| 1088 | Altur
and Aiah lead an astral assault against Orin's allies and Greyog.
By now, Thawdred has virtually crushed the religion of Ortha and enslaved the worshippers of Miah. But when Thawdred stumbles upon the followers of the Old God, Dayon the "Ash-bearer", he comes to grief. On the plains of Nienskalth, a hundred heroic men of Dayon defeat three thousand of Thawdred's troops. Thawdred's fate is unknown. As Dayon is linked religiously with "The weeping oak", the Maiden's of Riesha begin chopping down all oak trees across Esias. Greyog
is banished by Altur and Aiah into an astral prison.
The threat to Esias over, Soloman returns to enthrone at Erlendy, the first true King of a united Esia; King Tageon. |

Besk, Lord of Shadow Demons, persuades King Balbellan of the Sulin tribes, to lead a mass prayer; the prayer is for the Ulak's to be slain by their own shadows. Besk's shadows slay the Ulaks, but then turn on Balbellan and his people as well. With all that slaughter, Besk taps enough power to conjure The Piller of Twilight. Soloman, Silven the Moon priestess and Sun Paladin Fath Huam, assault Besk. Twilight descends across Esia's six states as Besk grows in power. Soloman uses his Storm Staff to strike the city of Balbesk with an earthquake. Besk and the piller sink beneath the plains. Before Besk escapes, Fath Huam uses the Seal of the Sun to obliterate him, leaving the pillar without an occupant. Tatun-na's horn is recovered and placed within The Temple of the Moonrise by virginal Etanya. |

The
Coming of the Dark
End of the Year. The Black Elf - Taisal Rift, returns to Darksea having stolen Soloman's White Ring. Using this Ring Taisal opens the Portal of Night and blasts the Jixiliah Wan inside. The Jixliah, unable to prevent itself from entering the Rift but also incapable of failing in its duty, ends up splitting its soul into two. *Note - This is possible because the White Ring Taisal used is also a fragmented and split object linked to split souls. It has the side-effect of splitting things that cannot normally be split. As the Portal opens, something dark comes into the World from Beyond - from the Void. This darkness is what eventually grows over the centuries into the Living Dark. Before Taisal can do anymore damage, Soloman arrives on the scene and does battle with him in front of the open gate. Soloman gets his ring back and casts Taisal through the portal into the Beyond. For some reason Soloman is unable to completely shut the Portal of Night. He doesn't understand why but at the same time is too paranoid and scared to go to the Eldar as they would probably confiscate his ring for starters. Fearing that they might sense the disturbance, Soloman puts a plan into operation to hide the fact that anything happened. He later entrusts his White Ring to Altur and the Priests of Wan but doesn't tell them why - only that they should lock it in the Vault of the Cabal and leave it there. Soloman fears that the Ring is now connected to the open portal and that the Eldar will track the End of the World all back to him and his item - the item he supposedly made himself. |

Altur
and his fellow priests (Alizar and Sanyel)
discover that Wan is missing from the chamber of the Portal of Night. Concern
and debate rages between the Domans of Altur and Diomi of Aiah over what
this means.
Altur feels a presence in Darksea that he believes is the spirit of Wan. He tries to make contact with it but fails. Altur and Aiah's marriage becomes difficult as Altur becomes more and more obsessed with the Portal of Night and the fate of Wan. Altur and Aiah are visited quite often by Soloman who pretends he is just stopping by for friendly visits but is in fact checking that the World isn't about to blow up. End of Year. 3 Priests of Wan; Alizar, Sanyel and Ebus attempt to summon Wan back from the Beyond. They perform their ritual beneath the Holy Hill, hoping to restore communication with their "God". However, something else comes to them. By opening their souls to Wan they unwittingly allow the Living Dark to enter and they become what is later known as the "3 Kings." An earthquake strikes the Holy Hill. Altur finds the drained bodies of his 3 brothers lying crumpled around a gaping black hole in the floor. The Temple on top of the Hill collapses. Aiah calls upon Soloman for aid who quickly arrives (After all - he has a direct Red phone line to Darksea - just in case the Portal starts swallowing everyone.) Altur, having received visions of something terrible happening - just like this, suggests that Soloman help him build an Astral Prison. Soloman agrees and based on Altur's designs, sets to work. In the mean time though, the Living Dark settles down and seems to go dormant. As the months pass, the Priests of Wan (Domans), stand guard over the black pit. Eventually they put stones over it and limit who goes down into the chamber as anyone sleeping above it or coming close to it hears voices whispering to them - the voices of the 3 absorbed priests. Note - Years later, only the High Doman can go below as the whispers of the Living Dark are known to drive men mad and only the High Doman is supposed to have the strength to resist them. Soloman works to create the Keystone but delays its creation - mainly because Mount Eldahar are watching him and he doesn't want to get caught. Aiah and Altur continue to have disagreements over the Portal, the fate of Wan and this new threat. Eventually, feeling let down by Soloman, Altur is forced by his brother Domans to act. Despite Aiah's vehement disagreement, Altur leads an exhibition of 7 into the Portal of Night in search of Wan and is never seen again. When Aiah tells Soloman what Altur has done, Soloman tells her that Altur and the other priests have now ceased to exist. Aiah, finding it impossible to believe what Altur believed, agrees with Soloman. Note - Soloman has still not admitted to creating Wan through his meddling. Soloman by his very nature doesn't admit to anything and is a born liar. |

Aiah,
grieving for the loss of her husband, disbands her spirit (Like
Makailla before her) onto the astral plane.
Aiah dies but her powers transfer to her 7 firstborn daughters. Mourning
the passing of their father and now mother, the 7 daughters become known
as the 7 Sisters of Sorrow. They leave the Holy Hill of Wan and travel
into the deep South - to the land of Daya, having heard of a Goddess being
worshipped there called Akilla.
Later that year Soloman returns to Darksea with the completed Keystone. He meets up with Thalamar of Wan and together they activate the Keystone of Wan to seal the 3 Kings and their Darkness in place. Soloman truly believes that the Keystone will last forever (because he's that confident in his abilities). Thalamar has his doubts as Altur spoke many times of the future and a dark threat. Neither realise that this future and is only a few hundred years away for in 1800, the Astral plane will undergo it's cyclic refresh and the wards empowering the Keystone's Astral prison will fail. |

Belkabe,
a loon from Yarili, demands recognition by all major religions as a God
of Esia.
To demonstrate his point, he uses his Thunderstaff and Seragael sea-ghouls against coastal towns and villages. When they refuse, he sends a hurricane against Gost Arnan, knocking progress back a few hundred years. When he tries a similar tactic against the Island of Optia, his research lets him down. Unbeknown to him, the Optian's worship Shun-shiran - an ancient sea beast; Shun-shiran causes the eruption of Bekan Rula, an undersea volcano. Both Belkabe's island and Optia sink beneath the waves. Bekan Rula's gasses form the Poison Sea. |
